The Polish Business Roundtable’s Board for 21–23

The Polish Business Roundtable, organization of owners and CEOs of largest Polish companies, has elected its new board for the next two-year term. Wojciech Kostrzewa, CEO of Billon Group, an entrepreneur and manager with more than thirty years of professional experience in finance, fintech, and media industries, remained in the president’s seat.

Wojciech Kostrzewa became the organization’s president in May 2019. Most of his first term was marked by a struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic, when the Polish Business Roundtable started to collaborate with a variety of social partners to counter the crisis. – As an organization of entrepreneurs, we had to focus on defending their rights, initiating anti-crisis measures, and monitoring legislative changes that affected the economy. The situation was dynamic and uncertain, it required constant dialog with the government and public institutions, which is why the last two years have been particularly intense for us – comments Mr. Kostrzewa.

In March 2020, the Polish Business Roundtable was among the initiators of the reactivation of the Entrepreneurship Council, a forum for cooperation of largest Polish organizations of entrepreneurs and employers. The Council has developed economic and legislative recommendations, closely cooperating with government members and their representatives. Apart from the Polish Business Roundtable, its current members include: Business Centre Club, Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs, Lewiatan Confederation, Polish Chamber of Commerce, Employers of Poland, Polish Bank Association, Association of Business Service Leaders in Poland (ABSL), and Polish Craft Association.

Alongside its engagement in the activity of the Entrepreneurship Council, the Polish Business Roundtable has cooperated with local government bodies as part of the Forum for Rebuilding the Polish Economy. The organization headed by Wojciech Kostrzewa conducted its own activities, too, including a campaign against the abuse of pre-trial detention in cases involving entrepreneurs or a campaign for the adoption of the EU budget for 2021–2027. It also continued to develop its flagship programs: The Polish Business Roundtable Award, which, unlike in previous years, had two virtual editions, and the Career Program – paid internships for university students and graduates – which, in turn, had the highest number of applicants since it was created eighteen years ago.

– We remain strong after the pandemic, both in terms of the organization’s internal situation and in terms of its public image. And we look optimistically to the future, even though we are aware of how much needs to be done to reduce the effects of the current crisis. We are definitely not slowing down and we will continue our work for the development of the Polish economy, which is an important part of the European Union – concludes the newly re-elected president of the Polish Business Roundtable.

Wojciech Kostrzewa, former CEO of BRE Bank (currently mBank), one of the top universal banks of Poland, long-term president of the ITI Group and chairman of the supervisory board of TVN television broadcaster, is CEO and co-owner of the Polish-British fintech company Billon Group, which offers blockchain-based enterprise solutions for payment products, tokenization of assets and document management. Mr. Kostrzewa is also member of the board of directors of the Swiss railway rolling stock manufacturer Stadler Rail, member of supervisory boards of the ERGO Hestia insurance group’s companies

The Board of Directors of the Polish Business Roundtable includes some of the most distinguished entrepreneurs in Poland. The organization’s vice-presidents are: Małgorzata Adamkiewicz (Adamed), Teresa Mokrysz (Mokate), Zbigniew Jakubas (Multico), Jacek Olechowski (Mediacap), Marian Owerko (Uno Capital), and Marek Żołędziowski (Group One).
